Bringing Ideas to Life: How WOTW Transforms Brainstorming into Tangible Results
When does an idea become an idea?
I don’t mean to get too philosophical here, but when it comes to bringing ideas to life, you first have to start by turning your brain dump into actual, executable projects.
At WOTW, brain dumping is the beginning of most of our processes, whether it’s coming up with marketing content ideas, creating new client offerings, or conceptualizing every design project.
It doesn’t matter if the idea is good or bad or even relevant, it helps to get it all out there in the first place — especially when you have multiple people’s perspectives.
For example, in our virtual marketing room, once we’ve let it all air out (so to say), we curate. Hone. Trim the fat. However you like to say it, we do it. We benefit from all of our different experiences and perspectives, and eventually we come to a few single, good ideas that we’re all happy with.
Depending on the type of content, each person gets to add their magic touch. Mallory gives direction, we write, Molly edits, Alex designs. And if I need to, I have the bird’s eye view to gently give reminders on due dates.
It’s surprising how much each piece of content – whether it’s on the blog or even an image on Instagram – is worked on by so many people.
But that’s the beauty of it, right? Our work community, no matter how far apart, is there to support and iterate whenever we need it.
As the agency assistant, it can be challenging to keep all the deadlines straight (pro tip: copious notes and actually using the Save for Later Slack feature) but it’s also rewarding to see so many projects that start as a Post It note on FigJam turn into something real, where people all over the world can interact with it.
‘Tis the beauty of the Internet, no?
