Developing Story: Sam Crawford
From bytes to bites, here’s what makes our developers tick.
Name: Sam Crawford
Current residence: Liverpool, UK
How did you get into web developing?
I built my own blog in Wordpress (themanblueprint.com) about four years ago, and then got heavily into copywriting afterward. After a couple of years, I decided to experiment with Squarespace and loved it! Fast forward about 18 months and here we are.
Favorite WOTW site you’ve designed and why?
Massachusetts Bar Foundation, because it’s my only one so far, lol.
Where do you work best?
On my couch with Spotify blasting as loud as my neighbours will tolerate.
Workspace essentials?
Best learning resources?
Just doing stuff. I taught myself everything I know for the most part. Whenever I hit a roadblock, I would make use of Facebook groups and forums. I recently invested in Squarestylist’s new course, which is expensive but definitely worth it for leveling up.
Favorite Squarespace feature?
The community. I love it!
Best source of creative inspiration?
Again, I like to snoop on people in Facebook groups and their portfolios. Always some good inspo there.
Favorite shortcut or tip of the trade?
The UI plugin from Squarewebsites is the biggest game-changer EVER. Shortcuts to CSS, Injections and Site Styles have literally halved my development time. For $40 or whatever it is, it’s a no brainer.
What are you binge-watching?
My Squarespace dashboard. I don’t really stop as I weirdly enjoy it 😂 .
Favorite meal?
Pizza, specifically Domino’s. If I want to be a high-class gentleman, maybe some ox cheek or lamb shoulder with a bit of potato dauphinoise. I’m not usually that classy though.
What are you hoping for in the near future?
Lots and lots of money. I know it can’t buy happiness, but I just want the freedom it brings.
