Onboarding: Claire Harper
The tips, tricks and tiny little details that keep our project managers on point.
Name: Claire Harper
Current residence: Oakland, California
How did you get into project management?
I’m an entrepreneur and artist, but project management and organization has always come second nature to me. As a business owner who wears plenty of hats, it’s been crucial to organize myself and others to move my business forward.
Favorite WOTW project you’ve worked on and why?
I loved working on Jenn Rose Smith’s portfolio website. It was really fun to craft a website that highlighted her stunning videography and photography without detracting from her aesthetic.
Where do you work best?
I work best with a bit of quiet, but I’m not too picky.
Workspace essentials?
Black tea, music and sunlight.
Can’t-live-without organizational tool?
I’m known for making really long to-do lists!
Favorite part of the WOTW process?
I love the beginning phase of building out a website with WOTW’s talented developers. It’s really exciting to see the glimmers of what a client is looking for start to come through.
Best source of creative inspiration?
I’m an artist, so my inspiration always comes from other creatives and their work. If in doubt, a walk in the redwoods or by the ocean helps clear my head and let ideas percolate.
Claire and her dog, Yuba.
Favorite shortcut or tip of the trade?
Always have a deadline to keep you honest.
What are you binge-watching?
I love the ‘Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,’ and I’m so happy it’s back for another season! I think the show’s team did an amazing job with the costume and set design. As a born and raised East Coaster, it brings back so many happy memories of strolling around New York City.
Favorite meal?
I could happily eat pasta for every meal for the rest of my life.
What are you hoping for in the near future?
I’m hoping to be able to travel with my little (not so little) sister again. We’ve taken some amazing trips together over the years but haven’t been able to during COVID. We’re thinking Mexico City for the next one — fingers crossed!
