One Week Later: Clementine To Go

Clementine Studio’s e-commerce page makes gorgeous watercolor invitation suites available to all.

Who is/are the brains behind your organization?

That would be me, Carly. I’m an artist, illustrator and founder of Clementine Studio.

Where are you located?

Chicago, by way of New York City.

What’s your mission?

To make the wedding invitation process a little more playful, a little less stressful, and to support my community and fellow small businesses along the way.

Tell us your origin story.

The basic summary: I grew up in New York, majored in studio art in college in Denver, then moved back to NYC, where I studied art business and worked in the art world for a few years and while freelance illustrating on the side. I designed my sister’s Save the Date card, which spawned a business idea. I officially launched Clementine Studio in 2014 with a focus on custom wedding invitations.

Workplace/workspace/office essentials?

Appointed Co. planner, coffee, a gallon of water and my dog, for moral support

Best source of creative inspiration?

Daily neighborhood/nature walks and observing the goings-on of people/animals on my street and around my neighborhood. I want to write a children’s book one day about neighborly observations!

What would people be surprised to know about Clementine?

Although wedding invitation design is my bread and butter, I actually spend about 50 percent of my time on non-wedding projects. I love working with businesses on custom illustration projects like maps and watercolor assets for websites, and I do a handful of large-scale painting commissions as well.

Why did you opt for the WOTW Plus site?

I needed a serious e-comm platform for Clementine To Go and experts to help me organize it. There are a lot of individual SKUs — I needed the works!

What are your favorite features of your WOTW site?

I love being able to see the pieces of each invitation suite in a neatly contained page with an easy-to-navigate top bar that links to each individual item as well.

What was your favorite part of working with the WOTW team?

I loved the entire process! I had plans of tapping Mallory and Kelsey for this project before it was even an idea on the page. I knew they would get it, but after our first consultation call, they seemed to understand and articulate my vision even better than I was able to. They’re also way more organized than I am, so their shared docs and step-by-step process gave me the timeline and deadlines I needed help with — which was a fun bonus.

Where can people find you and your products?

www.clementinetogo.com and @clementinestudio on Instagram.

What are you hoping for in 2021?

To stay in control of my schedule and protect my time as much as I was able to (read: forced to) last year.
