Onboarding: Katie Stipanovich

The tools, tricks and tiny little details that keep our project managers on point.

Name: Katie Stipanovich

Current residence: Chicago, IL.

How did you get into project management?

I’ve been project managing from a very young age. I’ve always been an organized, systematic thinker which lends itself to project management. After college, my friend got me an internship at an ad agency and I eventually joined their account team, managing tons of different projects and clients. It was never a goal to work in advertising/marketing, but my talents aligned really well with the nature of the work.

Favorite WOTW project you’ve worked on and why?

Last year, Alex and I worked on a site for E. Napoletano, a writer and comedian. They were a DELIGHT to work with, and I think we created something really special for them.

Where do you work best?

My bed, but I feel guilty staying in bed all day so I force myself to work in my office.

Workspace essentials?

A large monitor, Airpods, Pilot G-2 .07 pens

Can’t-live-without organizational tool?

My whiteboard dry-erase calendar. I’m a pretty visual person, and I’m in charge of scheduling all our projects/matching different team members to those projects. This is how I keep track of what’s happening in any given month. Also, who doesn’t love writing with dry-erase markers? So satisfying.

Favorite part of the WOTW process?

I love it when a client really nails the content-gathering process. When they put good work in and deliver their content in an organized way, it helps us all be successful — and it’s usually a good sign a project will go off without a hitch.

Best source of creative inspiration?

Being by myself. If I’m too busy and don’t take time to recharge, it’s hard for me to stay sharp and creative.

Favorite shortcut or tip of the trade?

Ha! Not sure, but I have a personal Slack channel where I put website inspo and how-to articles that I can send potential clients when asked. It’s the only way I can keep track of stuff!

What are you binge-watching?

How much time do you have? My husband and I just binge-watched Lupin on Netflix, definitely recommend it. I also am obsessed with Ted Lasso and Derry Girls.

Favorite meal?

Carne Asada taco dinner from El Taconaza el Tio on Fullerton Avenue in Chicago, IL

What are you hoping for in 2021?

Just waiting for that vaccine, baby! I’m hopeful that later this year I’ll be able to spend some time with my family and hug my grandparents.
