WOTW Site Round Up: August 2021
A few of our favorite sites from the last month.
Lucy Liu
The prolific artist, actress and director needed a place to showcase her wide range of work in a wide range of mediums — including sculpture, film, painting and more — as well as her passion for giving back.
Developer: Alex Lucke
Project Manager: Jeannine Gallagher
What our PM says: “This amazing build encompassed recreating Lucy Liu’s current site within Squarespace, and took tons of coding and tweaks to make it happen. I can't express the tireless work and commitment that went into this by Alex (with support from Kelsey Gilbert-Kreiling) to make sure we got it just right. The site is gorgeous, and it’s so exciting to see this come full circle.”
Bridges Between
This non-profit uses education as a way to help women in Nepal reach their full potential, leading to increased income, healthier families and more opportunities. Their areas of impact include economic opportunities, formal education, wellness education and resource sharing, and their site needed to convey the breadth of their work, their passion for Nepal, and the incredible results.
Developer: Hazar Alkhawaja
Project Manager: Hannah Hageman
What our Project Manager says: “This non-profit helps women in Nepal lift their families out of poverty by teaching them business skills to go along with their native weaving skills. Hazar came through (as always!) with an amazingly beautiful site that the client will be proud to share with their donors. I particularly like the use of blue and fuchsia throughout — it’s feminine, and reflects the Nepalese culture. Hazar was able to use the colors to give the website a very professional flourish, helping out the small team of voluteers running the show. Well done!”
Blue School
From their philosophy to curriculum to admissions to community connections, this Manhattan school needed a place to house info for prospective parents as well as essentials for current parents of children from 2 years old to 8th grade.
Developer: Alex Lucke
Project Manager: Jeannine Gallagher
What our PM says: “Tons — and I mean tons — of content in this rebuild. The client was wonderful, and was actually brought to tears during the first week of the build, once Alex pulled out that magic wand. They are so pleased to have a site that finally works for them and makes their audience want to read more about the school, rather than run away screaming from sheer content overload. The site is professional yet fun, with beautiful colors throughout.”
Holbrook
This St. Paul-based marketing company needed to convey its extremely vast expertise and offerings in a wide range of science and industry fields in an efficient and easy-to-navigate way — with visuals that communicate the passion and excitement behind their work.
Developer: Jessica Grinberg
Project Manager: Alaina Gregerson
What our PM says: “Jessica led a build for a wonderful client, Ann, who is the founder of Holbrook. This boutique branding agency wanted a fresh site to reflect its ethos. Jessica made a beautiful site with very limited photography to work with, and the client is beyond happy. (PS — don’t miss the GIF on the How We Work page!)”
R&E Management
With a mission to help clients manage and grow their businesses, this management company wanted their site to reflect their professionalism while emphasizing all of the ways they can make their clients’ work easier.
Developer: Hazar Alkhawaja
Project Manager: Anna Potter-Malone
What our PM says: “R&E is are a one-stop-shop for all things financial/human resources for small businesses. Their existing site was 15+ years old (!). They wanted a website that brought them into the modern age and was concise yet informative with a very professional feel. They wanted their work to speak for itself, so Hazar incorporated images (which the client loved!) into the background as to not take away from the content, but to offer a human feel to the site. The client was so pleased, and loved how — even with what she felt like was not a lot of design direction up front — Hazar nailed exactly what she envisioned.”
