The Bohemian Bee | Hospitality & Education Website

The Bohemian Bee is a small beekeeping business operated by Andrea Supergan, a UC Davis-certified Master Beekeeper and the only one in Julian, California. Andrea has spent over a decade teaching children and adults about pollinators — running hive tours, bringing live bees into classrooms through her Micro Masters program, offering beginner beekeeping classes, and placing managed hives on local properties through a Host-a-Hive program. She also sells small-batch wildflower honey at Julian retailers, the only locally-harvested Julian honey available anywhere. With all of that going on, she had no website to point people to.

Andrea came to WOTW through AFMKTG, a marketing and branding agency that works with The Bohemian Bee. AFMKTG handled the client relationship on Andrea's behalf — their team managed the project brief, creative direction, and communication throughout the sprint. The brief was clear: build something that felt vibey and 70s-inspired, reflected the warmth and quirkiness of the brand, and actually functioned — tour bookings, class signups, waivers, and a newsletter all needed to work from day one. Andrea's existing brand identity gave us a strong visual foundation: warm amber and honey gold tones, Art Nouveau influences, rounded shapes, and a retro, bohemian aesthetic that referenced inspiration sites like Jacumba Hot Springs and Wonder Valley.

We built a full Squarespace site with pages for Home, About Andrea, About the Bees, Hive Tours, Education, Hive Management (the Host-a-Hive program), Retailers, Events, and Contact. Tour bookings run through Eventbrite, with Calendly handling class scheduling. A contact form on the Education page feeds inquiries for Micro Masters school visits directly to Andrea's inbox, as does the Hive Management inquiry form. Squarespace Email Campaigns was connected and configured for her newsletter, and Squarespace CRM set up for contact management. Termageddon handles the privacy policy and terms pages automatically. Large-format photography with rounded edges mirrors the logo's soft curves throughout.

The site gave Andrea a home for everything she does in one place — and enough infrastructure that she can keep it updated herself as tours fill and seasons change.
