Monday Motivation: You're Wrong About
Podcasts, playlists, and other aural inspiration to jump-start the week.
This holiday season, like so many others, I was feeling kind of down and uninspired since I couldn't see my family due to the pandemic. I needed a distraction. My best friend recommended the podcast "You're Wrong About,” and told me to start with the Princess Diana miniseries. I quickly devoured it.
The hosts, Michael Hobbes and Sarah Marshall, work their way through past pop culture moments and discuss — hilariously — what we got wrong about them. Once I got started, I literally unsubscribed from all other podcasts so that I could focus on working through the “You’re Wrong About” catalog, which spans back to 2018. Now, I’m finally caught up and I’m just wishing they could speed up their production schedule to keep up with my listening schedule.
I grew up pretty sheltered and missed out on a lot of cultural moments in the 1990s, so having them explained back to me in a funny, engaging way is getting me up to speed. It’s best absorbed while folding laundry, doing dishes, or completing other mindless tasks. Come for the Jessica Simpson miniseries, stay for the Disco Demolition episode. You can thank me later.
